My Favourite Things

My overflowing jewellery stand

My very small collection of shot glasses from around the world (Malta, Mallorca, Namibia, Austria & Crete)

These are shoes that I customised myself - studs stuck on individually with superglue - hands looked like something out of a horror movie once I'd finished

Really bad photo of my Minx nails - they are silver leopard print - they'd ran out of gold, how could they!! And they knew I was coming!!

Yes that would be a traffic light on top of my wardrobe

Just a quick post today of a few of the things in my room and my garden to give you a wee look see. Have got family coming over for my Granny's 90th birthday ( I know I didn't think you could live to be that old either), so I may not be able to blog quite as much. Should be a good 2 weeks though I'm expecting cocktails on the hour every hour courtesy of the cousins that are staying with me.
However I have had one song in particualr in my head the past few days much to my mothers annoyance when I leap onto any available furniture and dance a hawaiian-esque routine....oh the embarassment. So in aid of this fabulous song I present to you the Pina Colada receipe.........Can you take a guess as to what the song is?? Come on its easy!!

Pina Colada

2 1/2 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
1 oz coconut cream
1 oz Jamaica rum
1 oz light Puerto Rican rum
Pineapple to decorate

Mix with ice cubes in a electric drinks mixer or by hand in a cocktail shaker, pour into a 10-once pilsner glass. Fill with cracked ice and decorate with pineapple and a straw. Enjoy!

I Wish it Was McQueen...

Vest Top : Freebie; Jeans : Topshop; Shoes : Dune; Scarf : Miss Selfridge; Watch : Swatch; Hoop Earrings : Gift; Cuff : You no where

This is just my casual downtime look.......I'm kidding, I don't wear heels wherever I go, especially not these ones that I blogged about here, that have a slight tendancy to suffocate the feet, and numb your toes in the most awful pins and needles situation. But as mother always says, "beauty is pain!!" and they are a beauty so I shall wince through it.
But alas summer weather now means meandering along with sandals/wedges and an altogether more enjoyable experience. Save for the man from the older generation, who insists on running along the beach front everyday with his tight ZEBRA PRINT speedos on, hairy chest on show.....have a good mind to email the council to try and get this creature removed from our presence...or at least get him some kind of restraining order on the whole beach. Til summers over at least. I will do you all a favour and not take a picture of him, save you from that horrific occurence, not least because I will probably be done for being a pervert.

Stuck in the Middle

Hat, Sunglasses & Jeans : Topshop; T-shirt & Shoes : River Island; Watch : Swatch; Friendship Bracelet: Henri Bendel; Bangles : Boutique Abroad; Cuff : H&M; Gold Bracelets : Accessorize

Kind of obsessed with my cuff I've noticed - seem to have it on constantly in the last 3 posts - good investment clearly for £6.99. Also adore the sunglasses I have on but I never wear them, one of those items you buy then it lies in the bottom of your closet, like so many tops, dresses, bags and shoes. Always go back to my ever faithfull aviators though and they only cost me $5 from Forever 21 - I don't need no Martin Margiela's!
Anyway has been a nice few days in Wet Kilbride - so called because it rains constantly. Hence the shades - which appeared in plentiful supply over the weekend, if not more so due to T in the Park which I do believe received some sunshine. Sunglasses are like winter coats in the way that you always buy new ones for the start of bikini season in hope that the sun does shine, or indeed if Ibiza/Malia/Brighton is calling. I have yet to buy mine and its well into summer but I'm blaming it on a sun deficit. However, I started looking at sunglass campaigns and editorials for some inspiration and I think its about time I invested in some crazy sunnies so I can be at one with my festival brethren, take a step away from the overused avaitors.....maybe.

Want Natalia's so bad - how good would they be on a night out???

What are your sunglasses of choice this year?

T in the Park

Its Fancy Dress Friday!!!

Jacket : Topshop; T-shirt : Freebie; Shorts : Miss Sixty; Socks : Accesorize; Boots : Hunter obviously; Cuff : H&M; Blue Bangles : Primark & Accesorize; Gold Bangles : Boutique Abroad; Plastic Bangles & Trilby: Collection stolen from Mon Frere; Sombrero : Stolen from a hotel

So hands up whose not going to T!! Yes me too although my brother managed to just about roll himself out of bed to get on an early train up to Balado. For those who aren't going I've done this blog post based on what I would wear - I know the sparkly jacket isn't a practical option and probably not for the impending rain that will no doubt drench revellers and performers alike but I LOVE it. And it looks amazing in the sun. Of course the sombrero is my very minimal effort for the legendary Fancy Dress Fridays that everyone gets dolled up for - my good friend has dressed up as a superhero and is calling herself SuperChebs in honor of her well endowed chest. Heres some other better outfits that put my effort to shame...

Would of liked to get glow sticks but you can't appreciate their full effect in the daylight.
However, to make us all feel better I'm giving you the best cocktail I've tried so we can sit in the comfortable surroundings of our own living rooms/decking outside if we so happen to get a little sunlight, dressed up in our T attire and listen to the good music at home. Yes I know you don't get the atmosphere or experience of being at a festival but its a darn sight cleaner and this way you can watch all the acts! And we all know who out of the hundreds of good bands playing with their amazing set list and euphoric crowds I'll be watching.......Ke$ha here we come!!

French Martini

1 1/2 oz vodka
1/4 oz Chambord Raspberry Liqueur
1/4 oz fresh pineapple juice
1 twist lemon peel
Shake with ice in a cocktail mixer and pour into a chilled martini glass with the lemon peel on top, or if your really fancy decorate the foam with raspberry sauce in a creative, artistic, experimental - whatever the hell you like - pattern. Enjoy!

Sewing & Studs

Top : Freebie; Skirt : Pamela McCallum; Shoes : Office; Bangles : Primark; Cuff : H&M

So I have been a busy bee! Not really, but I have made a skirt! Timmins should be proud!! But as I was cutting the hem, I also cut into the fabric in the skirt and made a huge big hole, so first I tried to embroider it but that wasn't for happening since it looked bloody awful so then I thought I'll put lace over it! Fell in love with bridal lace at about £60 a metre so that wasn't a go-er either, then I discovered these sew on studs and they worked like a dream!! So easy to use and they look like something I would actually wear. Have plans to put them on shoes, jackets, tops and all sorts. Will take it too far but you can never have enough studs. Just call me Donatella.

Cocktails

Jacket : H&M; Top & Jeans : Topshop; Scarf : River Island; Shoes : Dune; Bag : Ollie & Nic; Bangles : Boutique Abroad ; Knuckle Duster : Topshop

Went out for cocktails on a random Thursday with some girlfriends, was pretty good although we decided to try a flirtini. I've had one when I went to Rome but I thought that was just the Italian way of doing cocktails but oh no! They are actually so strong, was completely steaming after one! Not that it takes a lot mind you!
Thinking I should start a cocktail Friday recipe since they are the best type of drink, that way we can try them out together and if we all get merry off them we can blame it on Cocktail Friday!
Going to start it off early with the pretty but deadly Flirtini:

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 3 oz Champagne
  • maraschino cherry for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Muddle the pineapple pieces and Cointreau in the bottom of a mixing glass.
  2. Add the vodka and pineapple juice.
Remember: PROCEED WITH ABSOLUTE CAUTION
    ALSO!
Have recently become a member of lookbook.nu - just adding a few pics from the blog so if you like what you see hype away!

Flower Power

Top & Jeans : Topshop; Shoes : Office ; Flowers : My Mothers

Since it was such a lovely sunny day for once I decided to go all out and indulge in my flora side.
Florals are getting to be a bit over-done between the runway shows and editorials but I seem to have accumulated rather a lot of flowery garments so why not wear them all at once in true man repeller style to jazz things up a bit?
I'm hankering after more leopard print too - which also has been over-done to the highest but that doesn't stop my love/obsession for it, but this time its something I don't have - a bandeau ! So I figure its allowed.

Whats your latest obsession? And how do you flaunt your floral side?
